Sherrill Katsi Cook Barreiro, a Mohawk Native American midwife, environmentalist and women’s health advocate, will be a 2017 Indspire Awards recipient, it’s been announced.
Katsi Cook, known for decades for her work in environmental justice and reproductive health research at both the tribal and federal levels, is an Indspire Awards winner in the category of Health.
The awards, created in 1993, represent the highest honour the Indigenous community bestows upon its achievers, recognizing Indigenous professionals and youth who demonstrate outstanding career achievement.
