Addressing Inequality and Improving Public Health at the Local Level

While global health issues and epidemics always command attention, U.S. News & World Report and the Aetna Foundation are shining a spotlight at the local level, honoring four leaders who are quietly making a major difference in public health in their communities.

“We are here tonight to recognize exceptional community leaders who are making extraordinary contributions to public health in their own backyards,” Eric Gertler, chairman of U.S. News & World Report, said at the 2018 Community Health Leadership Awards dinner on Nov. 15, part of the publication’s annual Healthcare of Tomorrow conference in Washington, D.C. “We are here to honor their dedication, their accomplishments, and the example they set in their communities.”
