Montana Foundation Invests in Native American Healthcare

BILLINGS – The Montana Healthcare Foundation has announced a more than $500,000 investment to improve American Indian health challenges involving substance abuse.

The organization said in a news release that more than $600,000 in grants would benefit Native Americans, who are at an elevated risk of heart disease, cancer, and other illnesses.

The median age of death for Native American in Montana is 50, according to state vital statistics, which is about 20 years younger than non-Indian Montanans.
