Five heart surgeons from Columbia University’s medical center will join the staff of Stamford Health’s cardiac unit on a part-time basis, the hospital recently announced.
Through a new partnership with the school’s Irving Medical Center, the doctors will perform surgeries — both pre-scheduled and on an emergency basis — at Stamford’s only hospital.
The partnership is part of an effort to reduce travel times for patients seeking critical care across the region.
