The coronavirus pandemic has drawn renewed attention to mental health problems on college campuses and to the services institutions are providing to address the soaring rates of anxiety and depression among students. Now, a new survey suggests that more attention to mental health resources by American colleges is sorely needed, at least in the opinion of former students themselves.
According to a just-released Gallup study, based on interviews in late 2019 before the pandemic, only 17% of recent college graduates strongly agreed that their alma mater was passionate about the mental health of its students.
The interviews were conducted Oct. 24-Nov. 7, 2019, with 1,617 U.S. college graduates who completed their bachelor’s degree between 2010 and 2019.
