Legionnaires’ Disease Breaks Out in Manhattan

An outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease has sickened 11 people in Upper Manhattan, 10 of whom have been hospitalized, according to city health officials.

Eight people remained in the hospital on Thursday.

‚ÄúThis disease is very treatable with antibiotics,‚ÄĚ Dr. Mary Bassett, the city‚Äôs health commissioner, said in a statement. ‚ÄúI encourage anyone with symptoms of Legionnaires‚Äô disease to seek care early.‚ÄĚ
